Brake conversion question
I have a 65 short with a 350 sbc in it. It currently has the stock 6 lug, drum brakes setup. My long-term plan is to complete a disk brake conversion.
I came across a CL ad local to me for a guy selling the following for $100 for all: Parts from a '79 C10

Re: Brake conversion question
If it included the ps gear box, then maybe worth it. Else, you're missing the main part needed to add ps to your truck.
As far as power brakes are concerned, you can buy these new/remfg'd parts, "power brake booster, master cylinder, proportioning valve", for not much over $100. Check AutoZone and Advance A/P sites where you can see what will be easiest booster to fit, Jegs and Ebay for adjustable prop valve, and many just buy the '71 mc which is dirt cheap--so cheap that it can be tossed when you add disc later. Re: Brake conversion question
Finding a '73-'87 donor truck for your upgrade is the best route to go to upgrade your truck.
A '71 master cylinder [B]is[B] a disc brake master cylinder since that was the first year for front disc brakes. See the links in my sig line for the adapter brackets you will need.

Re: Brake conversion question
Hey tigerburns... I think if it were me I'd scoop up that deal for $100.
As luvbowties said, some of these parts can be had for not too much cash. Many forget when checking prices, that some of these reman'd parts also have a core charge added that you'll have to pay if you're not exchanging a used part.
