1970 Rear frame measurement
Hello,
I was hoping someone could measure between the two rear body mounts, or the frame rails and tell me what the measurement on a 1970 is. Before I plug the rear cross member in I want to make sure I have the correct width. The rear frame is getting repaired, and the replacement cross member I have is good and has holes, but I need to know where to put the holes in the new frame flange. Thank You very much! Frank |

Re: 1970 Rear frame measurement
Here's a pic I'd banked a while back. Can't remember the original source...so I'll just say thanks to Rod. 71, but should be the same.

Re: 1970 Rear frame measurement
Hoping someone can help. I need a measurement to place the rear cross member. Since I have made the new repaired frame rails a little longer, a measurement from the back wont help. If someone who has access to their frame could tell me the measurement to either a top or bottom rivet is from a reference point i would greatly appreciate it.
Thank You in advance! Frank |

Re: 1970 Rear frame measurement
Here's a picture of my frame. The picture was taken on the driver's side showing the top of the frame. The rivet holding the rearmost bodymount bracket is exactly 4 1/4 inches away from the rivet holding the rearmost crossmember on the frame. I don't think the location is real critical. Hope this is what you want.

Re: 1970 Rear frame measurement
Thank You Dan, That is exactly what i needed to see! I knew my stock tank might be close and looking at the pic its pretty close there! )) It also looks like that rear spring hanger bracket rearmost rivet is in alignment with the top cross-member rivet. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Thank You!

Re: 1970 Rear frame measurement
Hi again!
Hoping someone can help.... I need to mount a rear bumper but have no hole since there is new steel, and the original steel was gone. Could someone please take a measurement from the rear spring hanger? Thank You! Frank |
