Re: 65 witha diesel?

bolts in where a v8 fits. great mileage motors, lots of torque, but pretty slow off the line because there is no turbo, make about 130hp.

these make peak torque around 2k rpm and run out of breath before 3500 rpm so keep in mine what kind of gearing you will need, deep overdrive and a really steep rear end, or it will be a real screamer at 50mph.

Re: 65 witha diesel?

Just got my 66 back on the road after replacing the i6 with the 6.2 diesel with the 6.5 turbo. I'm running the 4l80e.

It's back on the road but that's about it. Don't have a tps hooked up so no over drive at the moment. My research seems to make me think it will turn about 2k at 70 mph with a 3.73.

Thought I had a birds eye engine pic on my phone but apparently not...

Re: 65 witha diesel?

The 700r4 would be a more cost effective tranny. The 84 k5 blazer my motor came out of had a 4wd 700r4. I was encouraged by friends to get the 4l80e because it was a deal, more heavy duty and I couldn't find a 700r4 2wd readily available that didn't need a rebuild.

I found a deal on a rebuilt 4l80e (with paperwork) which included the diesel torque converter. I have 1100 in the trans and controller.

Re: 65 witha diesel?

Only mods was buying a universal battery box and cutting it to fit on the passenger side of the radiator support for the 2nd battery. The battery sits just in front of the turbo right under the air cleaner.

I removed the inner fenders to fit the transport wheels. They may need to be cut but it's pretty straight forward. I even still use the 3 on the tree column with the 4l80.

Were at a car show. I'll get another pic for you soon.

did you read my post? it bolts in like any other v8. the bellhousing is standard small block chevy, so any v8 trans will fit. this particular diesel motor was developed to fit where a small block fits.
