Stainless staples
Has anyone found a source for stainless staples for the rubber on the inner fenders. I see they are available for corvettes, just wonder if they will work.

Re: Stainless staples
I had been thinking about just bending some up out of 304 tig wire. I have it and it looks like it should work. Just not far enough along to get to that step yet.

Re: Stainless staples
ss paper clips or ss safety wire are sum other choices just did a 68 EL Camino used safety wire, a pare of needle nose pliers and side cutters but cut your wire long and trim it after you get it through

Re: Stainless staples
I used aluminum floral wire from the local hobby store. Worked perfect and very affordable plus comes in multiple sizes

Re: Stainless staples
Don't laugh, but when I had my Vette judged at an NCRS event some years back, the judges had a magnet with them to check if those same staples were stainless or ferrous steel like the factory. Points were deducted for those that used stainless replacements. Beware of magnet wielding staple inspectors if you choose to go the stainless route! Lol.

Re: Stainless staples
To back up a bit: reread your original post and I glued my inner fender seals on. I did redo the fender closing panels and redid the staples, but would be the same work involved.
Heres a sample pic from my closing panels......more on my stepside build around post 980 ( page 40) if I remember correct. They sell coated and non coated wire also.

Re: Stainless staples
I made my own from wire stock. Measured the originals and bought stainless steel wire from my second favorite web site- McMaster.com. Yeah, they're not NCRS legal.

Re: Stainless staples
Fender closing panels, they get thrown away but should be used.

I used floral pins. They are electroplated steel. See picture here:
