bad timing problem
i know this is going to be a pain in the butt for me but i need to fix it bad
well what happened is that my crank while replacing my flywheel and putting in my cluthch was turned while my distributer was out of the engine and now i need to get the #1 cylindar back to top dead center now i need to know how to fix this problem as i plan to try and fire up the gmc for the first time tomarrow.

pull #1 plug have someone crank till you start to feel compression
stop at TDC...top dead center.... mark on balancer and pointer plate lined up that's TDC compression stroke... now install dist....with rotor pointing towards #1 plug... dist.base where it used to be..... might not point exactly to #1.... but thats it....very easy |

thank god i thought it was going to be a royal pain in the butt that would take half of the afternoon sounds like it will take just a short time, thanks for the reply

YOU BET.....if you can't get dizzy to sit....
try turning the oil pump shaft inside the hole....might have to get a flash light to see down there...to match up with dizzy bottom shaft...or a least close..... the stock dizzy is chamfered and goes in very easy.... try a MSD DIZZY...it's not has to be dead nut's or won't drop in... |
