Adding a dose of bad ass
Ok gents....going to add a slight touch of badassery to the stepside. Will be going with a flat black hood. But the question is do I flat black the roof too? Does anyone have pics of a black on flat black hood and roof? I know that's a long shot.

Re: Adding a dose of bad ass
I wouldn't touch the hood, look at 1973-79 factory 2 tone. I would do the side of the cab and front ffender satin black and the roof satin black. The hood satin black will just look unfinished.

Now that's interesting...I hadn't thought about that. I assume this is what you were thinking?

Re: Adding a dose of bad ass
Just an idea, if youre wanting a two tone like the black and silver truck that's a different story. Just the hood though will look like its unfinished. Go pick up a couple cans of plasti dip. Cheap insurance to see what you like.

Re: Adding a dose of bad ass
I don't know if plasti dip is the same thing that I am thinking but there is a place around here that will put on a wrap so if I don't like it I can take it off without messing the paint up.

Re: Adding a dose of bad ass
Plasti dip is removeable with out damaging the paint. Cheaper than vynil wrap.

Re: Adding a dose of bad ass
Truck looks great..Love stepsides, but it seems to me that the two tone looks better on the fleetside trucks...Nice continuous lines.

Re: Adding a dose of bad ass
Yeah I totally agree. Plus I don't have any trim that would make a natural two tone.

Re: Adding a dose of bad ass
Yeah, a flat black hood will screw it up. It looks great now, why mess with it?
Although, foot-wide rally stripes in a slightly lighter shade of black/silver (you know, "dark silver") might look pretty cools. Hood only, though. Leave the roof alone. You know, something like this color: but this layout:

Re: Adding a dose of bad ass
Could plastic or vinyl wrap some flat black hood stripes and when you get bored of it peel it off..

Re: Adding a dose of bad ass
the other thing I kinda thought about was some subtle pin striping but for some reason can't find any good pics for the square body. Anybody seen something interesting?

Re: Adding a dose of bad ass
I recognize that everyone has different taste, but I think it is nice as is.
Sometimes too much aggressive of a look sometimes comes off as trying too hard. Just jump it over something or do a Rockford J turn when the need to look badass strikes. Or turn on the dome light, so everyone can see the cool moustache.
