Mass air meter or speed density?
You guys running a maf or speed density? Not sure which route to go or which is better. This is on a n/a 6.0 with a cam, longtubes and an intake.

Re: Mass air meter or speed density?
No single answer. Better is what works best for your overall goals and particular situation.
In general, I don't recommend SD to anyone who doesn't have a relationship with a good tuner, or the full ability to tune themselves. While it can effectively make a small % more power, the margin of error is tighter. VE, VE smoothing, and watching max corrected AFR are essential, and must be done properly. They also become sensitive to other changes, meaning you can't do a bunch more mods and expect the tune to be ideal. Running MAF builds in a certain correctability, or in other words, its got some fudge room. This means making a small change or two in your setup will more than likely still operate just fine, because the MAF can sense changes in the temp and grams/cyl and correct for "problems" i.e. the changes. SD becomes imperative however when starting to play around with boost, carb combos, or things like 4150 injection setups which can flow volumes of air, and pressures of air, that are incalculable by a vane-style MAF. Instead then, the focus goes on modifying the MAP to a higher resolution, and using that to calculate theoritcal densities-at-pressure to run the fuel and spark mapping properly. Things like boats, sandrails, or any vehicle which is forced to use a non-standard induction system is usually forced SD, as aftermarket MAF's are pretty lame and don't usually support the variety of applications. I ran MAF for a year or two at the start, but switched to SD for the last couple years.
