Were the 1/2 tons 5 or 6 lug?
Dumb question so I appologize but I am eyeballing a 1970 truck on Craigslist and it is a short bed 2WD with 6 lug wheels. I asked the owner if it is a 3/4 ton and he said no its a half ton. So did the half ton trucks come with 6 lugs?

They came with both 5&6 lugs. 67-70 is six lug drum break front, 71-72 are 5 lug disk break front

I think you may be confusing this model with later one. All of the 1/2 ton 2 wheel drives before the 71 model were 6 lug. 71&72 had disc brakes with 5 lug suspension

Re: Were the 1/2 tons 5 or 6 lug?
GM went to 5-lug hubs on 2wd 1/2 tons in '71 with the introduction of disc brakes. All prior year 1/2 tons were drum brake with 6-lug hubs. 4wd 1/2 tons stayed with the same 6-lug hub pattern. The suspensions remained virtually unchanged. Suspensions are interchangeable.

And to expound on what is already written the 3/4 tons were 8 lugs, 1967-1972.
