What are these trucks selling for?
Hey gang, I got an 84 C10 Swb wit a mild 350, 700r4 , and 3.73 posi rear. This truck was built from the inside out. Only flaw is the body. Whoever painted it last didnt prep it right and its starting to bubble under some spots. But its still a good looking truck. Only reason I'm selling is because I want a 73-80 C10 shortbed or 4x4 (longbed or short) Long story short, what are these trucks selling for? I see what people are asking but what are they selling for? I put mine at 3500. A couple of people were curious but no real bites. Tell me what you think and I'll adjust accordingly.

I've found the more you tell a prospective buyer in the ad, the less "is it still for sale" calls you get. You may want to consider eBay also; you get a much wider audience there, especially if it's not badly rusted. That said, your asking price shouldn't run off anyone seriously looking for a C10. Re: What are these trucks selling for?
If the truck truly has no rust, then your asking price is about right. $2K is what any pickup will get out here in the desert southwest, as long as it is running and has a mostly straight, rust free body.
As was mentioned above, most of these old trucks need work, even if they look nice. Engine, transmission, cooling system, brakes, tires, interior, etc. add to the value if the are recently replaced or in very good condition. |

Re: What are these trucks selling for?
My '73 C20 cost me $1300. Engine had a refresh (4 bolt 350, bottom end didn't come apart but got a valve job, mild porting, cam, lifters, cheap roller rockers), tranny was a fresh rebuild. It needed a radiator and had some issues with the ignition linkage that I eventually fixed by replacing the whole column.
Body is very straight, paint is well patina'd and lots of surface rust but no holes (it doesn't snow around here). Good tires, heat works well, has AC parts other than compressor, nice seat, interior is pretty good for the age. No clue if I got a good deal, a crappy deal, or what.

Re: What are these trucks selling for?
Mine is a shortbed. I had a 72 longbed. That was a solid truck too. But it was a 2wd longbed. Paid 3500 and had aspirations of making it a shortbed. Boy, was I in over my head. So I ended up trading that plus 1000 bucks for the truck I have now. It needed new brake lines but that was it. I really like my truck but I would like to have the older style squarebody. The 67-72 are cool but out of my price range now. It would be nice to have a manual trans too.

Re: What are these trucks selling for?
I paid 2500 for my 79 stepside, and it's rough, but running. I drove it to Michigan from Little rock, and I'm happy with the price.
I probably would have paid another 1,000 for a 4x4.

Re: What are these trucks selling for?
Here in Michigan, if it doesn't need rockers and cab corners and bed sides then it came from out of state or has been patched. Price is dependent on how good that patch job is.
$800 buys a rusty runner, $1500 buys a rusty but good drive train, takes $3000 to get minimal rust and ready to go. Bodies with no drive train that need only minimal patching go $1500-2500. Clean cabs $4-600, doors $150-250 each, clean clips $3-500, etc. I haven't seen a bed worth buying in years except for the local Texas importer's $1000+ ones with slight dents. Jrgun515's $2500 truck would probably sell for $3500-5000 now that it's here in MI. And 4wd is worth $500-1000 on top of all those prices. Short beds command a little more. Stepside market seems to vary - everyone wants one or no one wants one. Prices vary with location inside the state too. Nice clean trucks, ready to drive, $5k. Goes up from there depending on quality. That's why I have 5 of these. Other than the box sides I have enough decent parts to put 2 together. Now if only I had the time....
