Glove Box decal insert???

I've got a chrome glove box with the black insert decal that is chipped. I've called 6 or 7 suppliers to find this...Anyone know where I can find it...My gauge panel is also the same black decal insert...Any help would be greatly appreciated...Greg

Re: Glove Box decal insert???

Repop gauge clusters are available from just about all the vendors. I do not believe you can buy an aftermarket / repop black sticker with the correct texture -- I haven't seen one. I suppose you could buy a woodgrain one and spray it with black plastidip... Or I've seen people just spray the glovebox itself

Hope this helps

Re: Glove Box decal insert???

Assume you're talking about a 67? If so, here are some interesting threads for reference - 1st one is about a way to match the correct texture. I don't believe anyone sells a decal. Also, Chev never sold a chrome glovebox door - so you'll need to scuff it if you're trying to get a texture on it and have paint stick. 71-2 Chevs did have an aluminum tray insert that held the woodgrain for a Cheyenne Super, but the rest were painted. 67 was unique. Hope this helps! Excerpt from 1st thread below - it's a great read.

I had a CAD drawing made of both a dash bezel and a glove box door made, it's now on the FAQ pages. if you take that .dwg file for both, to a laser engraver, they can cut out a perfect sized piece of sheet plastic that you can apply to both your glove box and dash bezel. The dash bezel I had made was for gauges though, didn't know if you had them or not. Guess I'll have to look into getting another drawing made for the guy's without gauges.....here's a few pictures:

Re: Glove Box decal insert???

Hi, I just did this project. I got a new instrument panel for Christmas and wanted to do a matching glove box lid. I bought a chrome lid from LMC. There are no decals out there to buy, so I went to Home Depot and bought some Faux Leather Black contact paper (shelf paper). It matches the grain and color of the new instrument panel very well. I taped it to the lid to create a template to match. I applied the contact paper to the glove box lid, using a hair dryer to heat/stretch the contact paper to fit at the lid lock hole. Installed in the truck...looks great and matches the instrument panel!

R56 - if you are looking for a woodgrain insert, those ARE available. Sometimes hard to find, but out there.

yes you can get new repops in a couple of colors -- I've seen blue and red. You can find used OEM in many more colors as these were on Chevys and also on the Buick Skylark GS cars. I just picked up a used dark green one on fleabay for my dark olive 72 Cheyenne Super

That steering wheel is from National Parts Depot. It is a 1967 Camaro walnut grain steering wheel and adapter hub. The wood grain was filled, wet sanded and painted to match the interior of the truck. The tilt steering column is from CPP.
