Buddy Buckets?

How rare are the buddy buckets in our trucks? I have a 67 gmc panoramic rear window and got a deal on buddy buckets. Should I use them even though the SPID does not say it came with them or sell them and trade for a nicely recovered black bench?

Re: Buddy Buckets?

You can trade a nice set of buddy buckets for a truck! They are super rare and very sought after. Most sets are $1200 for rough up to $2500 for freshly reupholstered.

Well depending on the condition of them they will go anywhere from about 800.00 to 2000.00... I am putting Buddy Buckets in my 67 that was originally a bench... Depends on how "original" you want to keep your truck...

I would however suggest that "if" your truck is 100% original then you should probably keep it that way... If it has any major changes then it makes absolutely no difference in the "Collector" value but would probably add "desirable" value which would make it worth more...

At the end of the day it is your truck and do what makes you happy...

Re: Buddy Buckets?

Use them regardless of the SPID. I dont think the buddy buckets are rare, maybe uncommon. Only used the first couple years in our trucks. Im going to use my buddies and keep my good bench. I can switch them if i want. If i ever sell my truck i would remove the buddies and put the good bench in. It seems like the buddies do not add as much value to the truck as they are worth by themselves. Bruce

In 67 the buddy buckets were standard on a CST so they wouldn't be listed. Not sure if GMC is the same.

Re: Buddy Buckets?

For the prices quoted above, ($800./$1200. to $2000./$2200.) I would sell them and re-do my bench seat if needed.

Just my opinion...

Or you could try them out and see how they feel then decide.

Re: Buddy Buckets?

My 67 is a CST that came with buddy buckets but the previous own didn't like them and sold the seats. I found a set here in Edmonton for $800.00 Canadian. I feel I was lucky to even come across a set.

Smile Re: Buddy Buckets?

if you really want rare, find an original set from a 66 GMC-yes they were available. 67-68 not as rare but uncommon and definitly desirable. i've had at least 25-30 sets since i started parting trucks back in the 80s. 67-68 suburban are rare, i've only owned one set and seen a couple more. wish i still had the burb version for my 69 but i'll modify one of my pickup sets to work in the burb.
