Power Steering Lines
I need to go from a rebuilt stock gear box to a Billet specialties power steering pump. Any tips?

Re: Power Steering Lines
Do you have experience making lines? (Brake, transmission cooler, etc.)

None at all but I'm pretty handy. A local shop said they can recriminations new rubber onto the line but not bend a line for me. It looks like you buy "oem" lines that goes from the gear box to frame? |

Re: Power Steering Lines
That sounds like the easiest way to me (buy a factory line, then have new rubber put on it to make it fit)
Bending the line, if needed, is really easy. Just put it in your vice and bend, a good rule of thumb would be to not bend it more than about 20-30 degrees than where it was before. If you really want to get serious, there are tools that will make it easier to bend the lines. |
