Lq4 swap in 70 c10

Well I have read alot of the threads you guys post and I finally set my Lq4 into my frame and I have got a couple question for you guys who had done this alot.

So what I have the are cpp sheet metal towers and I am using ploy motor mounts with Lsx innovation adapter plate. For the transmission it is a 4L80E and I'm using the pol tubular crossmember with the poly transmission mount.

So my question what is the degree the motor and transmission supposed to set up and where are you taking the degree measurement from.

My frame is setting level on jack stands with the motor and transmission in it nothing else so what I did is I took the degree measurement of the bottom of the transmission pan and the bottom of the oil pan . I'm getting almost 2 degrees on the motor I'm also getting almost 0 degrees on the transmission pan and I'm getting 0 degrees on my frame since its level

Can you get a measurement from the top of the Yoke at the trans and at the rear end
Try for a 1* difference, like 3* down and 2* up at the rear end

Well the only thing bad about me being able to do that is all my running gear is out from underneath it that's the reason why it is setting on the jack stand

Re: Lq4 swap in 70 c10

just as a reference #, around 3 or 4 down (so -3 or -4) from the deck is what GM uses. Most of the time 0-4 down will function, and some guys have run more extreme than that and not had a catastrophic failure, so long as they can end up at the rear end with a driveline angle that doesn't bind. Extreme angles can cause issues with ujoint breakage.

You can read tons of articles on how the driveshaft and rear axle interact in terms of complimentary, matching, or negating angles. Its a topic of its own.

The main reason that you see the "0-4" on LS engines is generally related to the steam system. The slight downward angle encourages the air to follow the high point in the heads to the steam crossovers and then vent. Its one of those things that has 50 pages of stuff on it at LS1tech, with opinions all over. Its usually not too hard to get somewhere in the o-4 range.

Re: Lq4 swap in 70 c10

My 1968 C10 SWB LQ4\4L80E is at 4* with ECE motor mounts and custom trans crossmember. I had to install degree shims in the rear to rotate the axle as "solidaxel" stated above.

With the motor and trans installed, measure from the transmission output yolk on the top or bottom.
