Thoughts on LS swap

I've started gathering parts for my swap into my 67. It already has a TKO500, 3.73 posi and presently has a 327. So far the plan is either a 480 or 525 horse 6.2 with a Holley alternator, PS, and a/c compressor. I'll use the gm controller and pedal. Going with a Boyd's tank, entropy radiator and possibly a hydraulic clutch setup. A hydraulic throw out bearing seems like a good setup.
My questions are...
Can I use the original bell housing? Is the 525 horse engine worth the money? What's the difference besides 45 horsepower? A hydraulic ram setup, a hydraulic throw out bearing or the original z bar setup? Pics of your setup? Thanks, guys.

Re: Thoughts on LS swap

Nice setup. I have a TKO600 I'm going to use in my car. Some things I cam up with.

-Use 1-inch setback plates. Everything should line up.
-LS1 clutch and flywheel should work. I'm planning on going with the LS7 clutch.
-For your linkage, you could keep the manual linkage if the z-bar mounts to the bellhousing. Or there may be a kit out there to locate the ballstud in the SBC location, I think they are made for Camaro swaps, etc.
-Yes you can use the original bell. My TKO600 was bought secondhand, and came with a blowproof bell from a BBC. It will bolt up, just like the SM465 bell in my 5.3L swap.

Re: Thoughts on LS swap

I bought the 480 horse ls3 and controller, an Entropy radiator and a Boyd tank. Going to use the corvette pressure regulator. Still gathering a couple parts. Also sprang for Captainfab's hydraulic clutch setup for use with a McLeod hydraulic throwout bearing. Will the original exhaust manifolds fit without frame trimming? Either that or a set of Doug Thorley mid length headers.
