Help regardig RH LH Glass install

Hello All,
I have a 1971 C10 LB and have been working on the seals lately. I read through the forums and cant seem to find the answer for a few questions...

First issue
The gent I bought the truck from took everything apart and separated the window from the steel piece. I am uncertain what I should use to "glue" the window back in to the metal piece?

Second issue
There seems to be a gap between the driver window and the new seal I installed. I thought and tried to shim the track for the front (wing window) and its seemed to moved things forward a bit, but I am worried about getting rust inside my doors over time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You shouldn't have any need to shim anything , use glass setting tape to install the side windows .

Great!!! Thanks for the link. That tape is suitable for the larger glass as far as getting it to connect to the metal "frame"? Seems like it needed to be something stronger than just a tape. Ill post photos later.

Years ago I had a reason to replace the driver's side window in my truck. I have long ago forgot why. While the steel piece was out I de-rusted it and painted it real good. In LMC or someplace else I saw I needed the "tape" that Grumpy linked above. One day while my dad was over I asked him how all these pieces go together.

He asked if I had a hunk of 2x4. I handed him a scrap about 15 inches long.

He proceeded to walk out into the middle of my lawn, set the window on the lawn upside down, put the tape on the window (bottom edge which was sticking up), put the metal on the tape, the proceeded to whack the $#!+ out of the metal with the hunk of 2x4. That was over 15 years ago. That "tape" is really just a rubber seal.

My question is how do you align the glass in the frame properly without it being installed in the channel/door? Meaning the glass can slide back or forward in the frame channel... That is the only issue I see with not simply gluing them in. Also remember that these were disassembled prior to me so I had no reference of location to go off of.
