no paint prison !!!

Well,
I am moving into the last phase of my 53 pickup project.

I talked with a well respected local paint shop last year and
asked when his least busy time was, and if I could interest him
in finishing my project.

He was very interested and said January and February were normally
slow times. He also said he would only work on clean metal, not any one
else's mess.

Perfect!

I did all of the fabrication work. Cab and doors are stretched 5 inches.

He has the fenders, doors, bed sides tailgate and all other pieces already
finished. The cab will be done next week, and I only began taking parts to
him two weeks ago....wow!

color is a little off in this cellphone picture, its quite nice in person.
its a late model Ford mustang metallic red.

Re: no paint prison !!!

I had new door glass cut at a local glass shop.
I used the old glass as a pattern, and since I
extended the doors exactly 5 inches, I made the pattern
for my new glass ( I used 1/4 inch plywood ) exactly 5 inches
longer.

After extending the window mechanism, the new patterns
rolled up perfectly.

The glass company just copied them exactly, and sanded and
smoothed the edges.

They look just like factory glass.

The rest of the glass is stock.

Re: no paint prison !!!

My '55 has been in the paint shop since late July, 2015. Originally the painter said it'd likely be done in January or February - the cabs and front clip are close to paint. The bed hasn't been touched. I'm NOT upset because I've not really done anything to the frame yet. Life happened, you know?

Re: no paint prison !!!

Looking good..did you do a build thread when you stretched the cab? I would be interested in seeing that as well as what others did..

Re: no paint prison !!!

No, i haven't done a build thread yet.

As I put it back together I am going to take even more
photos. Then I will have a better organized thread, and
hopefully more interesting too.

Painters Prison, Been in there since early October. The box and rear fenders are done but the deal was that is the slow time of year. So the price was right for the wait.
