everything needed for 97 vortec on a 65 3spd??

Recent problems have me looking for n engine
Think I found a whole 97 G20 van with vortec n title for $500

Will be using everything I can except trans(700r) and F.I.

What extra do I need(besides intake, fuel pump) to install in my Muncie 3spd 65 C10???

Hopefully This will become a build/swap thread

You've got two threads exactly the same going here. You should either delete one or contact a mod to have them merged.

That original trans is a 4L60E not a 700R4

1) You will need to remove the drive gear from the original L31 distributor and install it on the distributor that you plan to use in the engine. This is due to the roller cam.

2) You will need a flywheel for a one piece rear main seal small block of the same tooth count as your original flywheel. Otherwise you will need a new starter.

3) I would remove the entire accessory drive and water pump from the L31 and install a correct short water pump and accessory drive correct for your truck. You can run the L31 serpentine drive if you want, but that depends on how you want the engine to look and if you need an AC compressor and a power steering pump.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Non engine related, you can use the brake booster along with my booster bracket to add power brakes to your '65

Re: everything needed for 97 vortec on a 65 3spd??

Swap out gears on dizzy, got it
Accessory drive? U mean belt system for power steering and such? Will eventually have a/c hooked up but doubt power steering
I would guess easier to keep serpentine belt.. Don't care the looks
Correct set up for my truck? Short water pump? Aftermarket? Vortec hits radiator?
Bigger radiator I'm guessing
Will flywheel/starter work from donor van?
Will 97 g20 van front end fit? Would like to have disc fronts.. I believe its 5 lug tho

If I get the whole Van I'm going to use what I can

Any info n pics will help
I will catalog quite a bit when I do the swap
I'm also looking thru threads about for shift standards trans..Camaro/S10 mix match?

I have deleted the other one as there were no replies in it.

You will want to convert to the older style water pump and brackets. Hard to delete the power steering from the serpentine belt system. You will need an intake to fit the vortec heads your old one wont work. The flexplate from the automatic will not work you will need a flywheel to fit the newer engine as stated above.
