Speartech BP automotive All these companies can assist you. and these are just a few. I would read up on them all first. Some can give you a new harness some will remove what isn't needed some will put your harness and computer on a mocked up motor and tranny to test it There's a lot of companies that help you... You just need to measure your risks and capabilities to see where you are at to start. I wish you luck on your search and look forward to seeing which direction you go. Mike

Re: wiring harness for an LS swap
I had John at Speartech do my first LS swap harness about 10 years ago.
https://www.speartech.com/ I've done my own modified factory harnesses on some, and built harnesses from scratch for some since then. It's really pretty easy to modify a stock LS harness for stand-alone use.

Re: wiring harness for an LS swap
This is a good start for guys wanting to do it themselves. Lots of good info.
http://lt1swap.com/wiringharness.htm Also, i just remembered that I had BP do a harness for me as well. Quality work, but he has SLOW turnaround in my experience (he's just one guy modifying harnesses)

Re: wiring harness for an LS swap
It can get a bit intimidating when you pull all the loom off and dig into it....but it's super satisfying when it fires off for the first time

Re: wiring harness for an LS swap
I can't recommend BP-Automotive enough. They did a FANTASTIC job on my harness, and the customer support is great. Bill usually personally answers the phone.
All new connectors, has all the position assurance locks, adhesive heatshrink used, fiberglass braid on any wiring by a heat source, true harness tape and friction tape used (not electrical tape), well labeled, etc. I was very impressed. |

Re: wiring harness for an LS swap
I've done about 7 LS swaps. One Speartech harness and Howell for the rest. Speartech because they were the first with DBW on a LS3 project.
Howell now because they are a bit less expensive. Nothing against the other vendors but the convoluted plastic tubing they use for the harness is cheap and looks cheap. Both Howell and Speartech use the braided wiring covering with enough length that you can tuck it behind the cylinder heads and intake for a cleaner look. Also consider the fuse block and wiring for final connections. Both Howell and Speartech are well labelled and simple to hook up. Can't say the same for other vendors I've purchased at less cost and then returned. I don't work for either just a mechanical hot rodder that lacks much electrical knowledge. For me plug and play means a great deal. |

Re: wiring harness for an LS swap
Im very frugal. I altered my stock harness. I used the assistance of board members of ls1tech.com and This site. Its not that hard. I managed to Fcuk up a few harnesses along the way, but I learned a lot. Lt1swap.com has a lot of helpful information also. That BP Automotive harness is probably the best harness I've seen. good luck. Clark.

Re: wiring harness for an LS swap
BP-Automotive will do braided loom if you want. I specifically wanted the convoluted tube for a more OEM looking harness, and for some strange reason, I've never liked the look of braided loom on a wiring warness.

Re: wiring harness for an LS swap
If you use a factory harness be aware that if you didn't remove it there may be issues..on mine the removers evidently sawed about halfway thru the big part of the harness with a sawzall..then they pulled the convoluted cover back over it...you couldnt tell it until i started pulling it apart....so I went with psi..no complaints..

Re: wiring harness for an LS swap
Here is a poll I started a few months ago. Afterwards I decided to do my own harness. It hasn't been difficult and I like how it's turning out. I figured I would try my hand at it and if I don't like it I can probably sell it and buy a harness from another supplier.
