85 one ton
Bought a 1985 one ton a few days for a steal. 350 with a 4 speed. Virtually rust free besides the passenger door. It's got an 11 foot bed on it. I plan to shorten the bed to about 9 feet long. I'd also like to replace the small block with a 454. First thing is body work and paint but I'm unsure what color I'll paint it. This truck does run amazing though. Its my first ton truck. I'm open to suggestions on where to go with this.

Re: 85 one ton
I know I don't want the bed that long but it will stay a flatbed. I'm thinking either orange or a blue green.

Re: 85 one ton
I have the same dilemma with my "new to me" primered '79 K30 ; silver/blue, Lemans Blue metallic , turquoise metallic , or my new fav Aqua Pearl metallic.
Have you checked-out the Chevy Sunset Orange metallic ?

Right. My dearly departed best friend's bike is H.of C. Candy Tangerine it was an even match for the Chevy color (my 2002 Anniversary Edition Camaro was Sunset Orange). He grabbed a World of Wheels Best Nostalgic Chopper award with it too , it's sharp !

Very nice! What tires are you running? I'm putting new ones on next week.

Re: 85 one ton
The tires in that picture were 7.50x16s goodyears,, but I blew both fronts and one rear in a 2 week stretch..I have 235 75 16s on it now..they are a little wider than what was on it..this was a fire truck and tires looked new but some research showed they were made in 1987

Re: 85 one ton
Way nice bed mongocanfly. Didn't realize how much I would like a flatbed until this truck. So many uses. This bed is just over 9 feet. Chose to line x the entire thing. Holding up really well. Good luck fuzz.

Re: 85 one ton
Thanks e-arc..really nice and clean truck you got there...I just looked at a picture of a cm bed and then built mine to fit the truck. Only regret is I should have made it about 6" longer(mines 8 ft) and about 2-4" higher..this truck had a 13 ft long bed on it when I bought it and I cut 5ft out of the frame. I wanted line-x but they wanted $1200 to do mine with no warranty. I only had $900 in metal to build the bed..to rich for me
