Has nothing to do with zero decking your block if we are on the same sheet of music....generally if my memory is working there should be in the neighborhood of 30K thousandths play betwwen the dist. gear and the housing...the shim..ava from gm...comes in a one size fits all size. Generally the shim wears into the dist. housing on high mileage dist's....so i replace the shim and rerun the dist as long as the shaft has not oblonged the housing...
