That looks about the same height as the headers that came on the GMC after we dropped it 4/6. They "self clearanced" after only a few days of driving, but the sound of that on the highway was concerning hahaha.

You can also use Chevelle 3/4 length headers too.

Re: Header ground clearance with 4/6 drop...
to be honest, I have just a little more ground clearance than that with my headers and they only scrape on like railroad tracks, never on the regular road. They've never been real damaged by it either. But, I'd definitely go shorter if the option is open

Re: Header ground clearance with 4/6 drop...
Well that's good to hear. I could easily get some shorties, but it just sucks as these are brand new and I already welded up an x pipe system. I guess the good part is they're just Summit cheapies.
I saw some stainless shorties on Ebay for $150, I'm guessing they're China pieces. Anyone have any experience with them? |

I ran Sanderson BB8 headers on my truck...it had a 454 and was lowered 5/7. Plenty of clearance.

Ute sandersons look great. They're in my cart at summit right now, but also looking at Chevelle 3/4 length headers. Do these fit for sure?
Looking at the patriot H8012 Clippster. They're half the price of the Sandersons |

Those are good, get real close to the bell housing.
I have dougs 310-C on my 73 fit awesome, tuck in the rail and 3/8 flanges.

Re: Header ground clearance with 4/6 drop...
I have Hooker 2455 headers on mine. They are for a Chevelle but fit in my big block pickup perfectly. There are a couple other guys on here that are using them too. They keep the exhaust totally tucked up between the frame rails. I did however have to build a channel in my trans cross member for my exhaust pipe to pass through.

Re: Header ground clearance with 4/6 drop...
Yeah I'm thinking I may just cruise around a little as is to see how bad it is, and then re think some things. I'm wondering if the McGauhy 2" drop springs are more like 3" due to the big block. Swapping to a 1" spring might give things a little more breathing room while I plan a new exhaust system. I've only got about 2" to the top of the wheel tubs also as it sits, so those probably need to go. The crossmember is crazy low too, since it's settled a little I can no longer get a floor jack under it.
