1949 cab shackles
I got a set of cab shackles off eBay and they don't fit my 49 frame. The mounting holes on the frame are staggered. Like this:
Here is what I got off eBay: As you can see the bracket that mounts to the cab is the same but the 49 bracket to frame is staggered. Does anybody have info on which years had staggered frame mounts and which years were straight? The repops are straight but say they fit 1949-1954 (not true!). If anybody has an extra set of shackles that will fit my 49 I would appreciate it. |

Re: 1949 cab shackles
I think someone may have used four cab brackets on those rather than the proper frame brackets.
Looking at this I may be wrong though. Scroll down the page and you see a set with the bolts one above the other. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=532037 In all my junk I don't think I have any extras but someone might have and pm you.

Re: 1949 cab shackles
Just simply a different year or even manufacturer. Often things are different like that because they bought them from another manufacturer and it was changed up for some reason.

Re: 1949 cab shackles
Cool thanks for the response. I will be on the lookout for a set of staggered shackles. I could modify the set I have as a last resort.

Re: 1949 cab shackles
I think the 3/4 ton and up trucks used different mounts than the 1/2 tons.
