Mating a T56 to a LM7

Gents,

Done a search across multiple forums but not had a consistent answer so asking here.

Just about to order a T56 for my 66 C10 LM7 install. Deal includes flywheel, clutch etc from an 01 Z28.

Question is, as the LM7 was an Auto will I run into any ECU problems now that there is a T56 where there once was an Auto?

Should I get the transmission harness with the T56 (dont really think it is required but you never know).

Appreciate your knowledge share.

You will need to have the ecu tuned for a manual instead of an auto. I put a t56 behind a 5.3 and I didn't use the trans harness but I did make my own for the reverse lights and the reverse lock out.

Some harness vendors and tuners suggest including the VSS signal from the T56 will help the computer make the LS run better. Or easier to tune.

I've done them with and without.

Thanks Gents.

The current ECU has a Speartech tune on it which I a hoping will be enough to get me started.

Intention is to invest in HP tuners as stage 2 of the build will be a cam and turbo so as stated as long as I can get it running I will have a base line to tune from and see where it goes.

Bit more complicated than the Big Block, carbs and 4 speeds I am used too!

Really the best way is to re-program the ECU with a Camaro tune. It's mostly to run the reverse lockout function, which operates off the ECU. The reverse lockout activates below 5 MPH and allows you to put the transmission in reverse. Without that function you can muscle it into reverse but its not easy. Any decent mail order tuner should be able to set up the ECU for the 5.3 and T56
