Air Shut-off Valve (aka cowl air-door) Spring

I was just recently introduced to this valve, which sits in the RH corner of the cowl. Word is the spring is hard to come by, but a similar spring may work.

I believe I've found the spring or real close.

Link to the valve: http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/eQsAAO...LAI/s-l300.jpg

Image of the correct spring (see post 16):

Hint: Can locate the springs on FeeBay.

Potential spring replacement (3840842 or 3849704 - probably 3849704)

Re: Air Shut-off Valve (aka cowl air-door) Spring

Well, maybe not. The small spring is 4" long, and the original is 4.25". You can stretch this one out, meaning it's not real heavy duty. Will it work? can't say for sure.

I read where "just go to the hardware store, find something similar". Don't know where they're shopping, but Blows and Cloan Depot don't seem to carry springs with hooks on the ends.

Thanks. I believe there's an Ace over the hill. Miss those old hardware stores.
