The earlier trucks used a linkage style and I don't think there is any way to make that work. Possibly swap out a little older one like you have.

Re: DBC 5.3 swap--gas pedal solutions?
I got this pedal out of a 2007 v6 truck, it seemed like it would've worked fine. After sitting the motor in place I've decided to stay with my stock linkage (68) and use the lokar s-1034.

Re: DBC 5.3 swap--gas pedal solutions?
Well I used the pedal and cable out of tthe doner truck. Cut the piviot point out and weld a little plate to bolt to the floor. Heat and bend with a torch as needed. However I just picked up an chrome adjustable pedal off eBay for 30 bucks. Looks just like the locar style. Nice piece I think anyone could make work easy. Search chrome gas pedal or hot rod accelerator pedal. You should find them. They even have the spoon style if that's what you like.

Mine went smooth and works good with the stock foot feed.

Here's a pic of the 30$ eBay pedal. Also the cable off any v6/v8 truck works perfectly nice and long. Of chores the pedal is 100% adjustable with set screw and splines.

Re: DBC 5.3 swap--gas pedal solutions?
So I went with the cheap lokar style pedal. Now I'm having a hard time sourcing a throttle cable that will mount thru the firewall to the pedal and work for my dbc throttle body.
Any advise?!

Re: DBC 5.3 swap--gas pedal solutions?
I used my stock '72 Chevy pedal and a mountain bike brake cable. I suspect it wouldn't be that much work to put one in an earlier cab.

Re: DBC 5.3 swap--gas pedal solutions?
I used a 90's Nissan truck cable pedal with stock cable. Cut cable to fit and installed a bicycle cable repair end on it.
