Cab Support Replacement
Guy's, there seem to be 2 front cab support replacements available. One is as the original and the other a "slip on" which I assume you slips over the original, leaving it in place and welds to solid material to the sides of the original.
I need to replace one of mine and was wondering what is best to go for. The OM item would obviously be more original and a a better repair. The slip on would be easier, quicker but not so original and with the original rusty part under it probably more prone to future rust. What do you think? |

Personally speaking, I do things right or not at all.
I can't think of any legitimate reason to hide a rusty weak cab support under a thin piece of sheet metal. .

You are 100% right. I just wondered if anyone else had tried the "slip on" part seeing as its available.

They were sent to me.
They are thin cosmetic cover up pieces. .

To replace the cab support, the rocker must be removed.
The only reason I can come up with as for their use is to possibly cover some kind of alterations to the existing support that hasn't comprised the strength of the part.

I do have to replace the rockers and I have those panels here already. I may have to fabricate my own repair in that case, which is not really a problem and I can fabricate a far stronger repair than I could buy.
