Re: anyone running a tremec 6 speed?
My opinion, these trucks aren't built to do really high speeds, 75mph is comfortable and fun. One of the cool things about the t56 is, that you can gear the diff so it pulls hard in the lower gears, but also cruises in 6th.

Re: anyone running a tremec 6 speed?
i agree with trkfrk. these trucks weren't built for bonneville. and mine definitely pulls in the lower gears but cruises really nice. i personally have been reading up on suspension design so that i can set mine up to handle better than it does.

Re: anyone running a tremec 6 speed?
We took the truck on her first trailer pulling job on a 2 day campout. The close ratio 6 speed worked pretty well. No problem finding a gear in the torque range. First gear felt a little tall, but would get going with some clutch feathering. On the freeway I was surprised to see the little 350 pulling well in 5th at 55mph reving 1800 rpms on level ground. I could definatly feel the 3000 lbs back there. Acceleration was slower, but cornering was surprisingly snappy with the low ride height and stiff sway bars.
I think the 4.11 gears are about right for my use. Without the trailer they are a little short, but I don't need to cruise at 80. Russ
