Re: Window rebuild kit?

Here's some feedback on another company offering a complete kit to convert from vent window to single window. I did this with my 53 and I really like the final results - I think the look is more clean and a better match for the goals of my build.

I ended up not being thrilled with the kit from A&H Classic Truck Glass. But first, Some positive comments. I received all necessary parts and they arrived quickly and packaged well. The instructions were ok - not "pretty" but got the job done. And the company itself was very responsive to phone calls and emails.

But I wish I hadn't had to call or email them at all. For starters, I am on my second set of window regulators in both doors. Both of the original kit regulators failed with broken gears. They were (are) sorta junky and I'm kinda just waiting for when the replacements fail. Now, this may just be an issue with repop regulators - I'm sure this company doesn't make them in house and they get them from the same place that Brothers, LMC, etc get them from.

The really big issue for me was that unfortunately the window glass they sent me were not the correct shape. They were very close and fit great almost the entire way around but the upper back corner of the glass (towards the rear of the truck) had a shape that was far too round to fit correctly up into the corner. There was no way to adjust this issue and it actually left an open air gap that could stick small screwdriver through even with the window rolled all the way up. I made the command decision to just get a local glass shop to cut new and correct glass rather than go back to the vendor. I think the vendor would have helped me somehow, but I was out of time and patience for that.

On the plus side, the truck looks great with the combo of one-piece windows and push-button door handles!
