402 big block rebuild

finished and installed last night. my first rebuild in many years. what a good feeling to hear it turn over, sounds and runs great. new main bearings, cam shaft and bearings, lifters, push rods, valves, rocker arms, piston rings, timing chain and gears and oil pump. left the crank shaft just polished it up and springs were still good. found some serious junk behind the freeze plugs

Re: 402 big block rebuild

Nice! What was the overall cost for parts and machine work?

Re: 402 big block rebuild

Nice job man! This is motivating for me being on the fence about a home built bottom end. Let's hear about the cam and other parts

Re: 402 big block rebuild

That looks really nice. There's nothing like the satisfaction of driving something you built (especially if it's a classic Chevy).
