Re: HELP!! Corvette 327?? 1963 C10
FII24HA decodes to
F - Flint, Michigan engine assembly plant II - 11th month, November 24 - 24th day HA - horsepower and dress: 1965, 327ci/275hp, manual trans, full size car (Impala, etc.) This info can be found on several web sites. Since there is no VIN stamped next to the Engine Plant Stamp, it did not originally go in a Corvette. That's not to say someone didn't put it in a Corvette at some point though. As someone else pointed out, most all used small block parts "came out of a Vette" . That shouldn't take anything away from a 327/275 though- it was a very good street motor. |

Thanks for the great info! I appreciate you taking the time to look that up. At least I wasn't the one that forked out the money for those Corvette valve covers! What's interesting about the pic I posted of the stamped motor vin, if you look closely you can see other numbers stamped around the vin.. You can see a 399. They are just before the engine vin, but not in a straight line.. I wonder what that's all about?

Re: HELP!! Corvette 327?? 1963 C10
Welcome to the forum from a little ways North of you.
I wouldn't get too hung up on the whole 'Corvette engine' thing. Very seldom when an engine is rebuilt, whether it is a 'Vette engine or other, is it rebuilt to original specs. I have been playing with Chevys for nearly 40 years and I don't know how many times I have been told an engine was a Corvette engine. The first and only confirmed Corvette engine I have owned I acquired about 5 years ago. And it really is nothing special being from a '74 Corvette. Plus it has been rebuilt with who knows what inside. It does run okay though. Regarding the acid wash, I believe that is likely the same acid found at heavy truck dealers, parts suppliers and truck stops. It sure did wonders on your entire truck

Re: HELP!! Corvette 327?? 1963 C10
heads f11 isn't that june 1 61? yes 283 these heads were used on 250hp 327's also but would have a different date code of course. the 65 camaro is wrong as on the z28 listing. I found another list that shows it as a 65 250hp and all it says it came with a 4sp

Re: HELP!! Corvette 327?? 1963 C10
Thanks for all the info guys. Does anyone have any pictures of exhaust they have done having a 60-66 c10 SBC swap with the ram horn exhaust manifolds and the factory 4 speed?
What are your guys' thoughts on the Muncie 4 speed with the 327 set up? I'm not sure what gears I have yet.. Haven't pulled the cover off the 12 bolt rear yet.. |

Re: HELP!! Corvette 327?? 1963 C10
Assuming you're talking about a Muncie M20,21 or 22, that will make for a fun driver. Not so much if you plan to use your truck as a truck. More than likely your truck will have 3.73 gears. That is the most common. With that said, it would still be a good idea to pull the cover and change the oil, cover gasket and have a look at the condition inside.

Re: HELP!! Corvette 327?? 1963 C10
That's the plan.. I will have to see what Muncie it is.. Didn't know there were so many options for the 4 speed on these? Definitely not to be used as a truck.. Just a toy

Re: HELP!! Corvette 327?? 1963 C10
Definitely not a knock on you or your truck, but there has to be a LOT of Corvettes somewhere with no engine in them based on the number of vehicles I have seen with "Vette engines" in them.
Nice looking project you got there. I do like the valve covers on the engine! |

Inside spot handle. I love this spot light. U twist the handle to pan left and right and rotate fore and aft to move light up and down

Re: HELP!! Corvette 327?? 1963 C10
The heads are 60-67 283 the block is 1965 327 275hp 4bbl 4spd and it is not corvette block. If it had like fi208hf it would be a corvette block 1965. The best place to look these up is thecamaro.com and outintheshop, com I hope theses help you out.

Re: HELP!! Corvette 327?? 1963 C10
Hey there, I've replaced my steering column components with used ones I've put together. I was wondering if you happen to have a wiring diagram for the lighting system? I basically have to re wire from the turn signal switch and brake pedal back. I have to turns or stop lights...
