LS swap radiator problems --- Any experience with Entropy?

Hello guys,
I have a 69 C10 that I put a 5.3 in. I used the Griffin Direct Fit, which is a lie, LS Swap radiator. I had to cut out the factory radiator mounts and fabricate custom mounts for this "direct fit" radiator. Within 500 miles she was leaking. I called Summit and 3 days later, no questions asked, a new radiator was at my door. I installed it, sent the bad one back, and within 200 miles the replacement is leaking in the same area. What Tha.....???? There will be no more Griffin radiators in my truck. I want to go back to a factory mount system too. This will cost me a radiator core support and some work.......

Since I've done the swap and seen a few more trucks I have been seeing a few aluminum LS swap style radiators online and in person with factory type mounts. One of the brands that appears to suit the bill for an LS swap is Entropy. Does anybody have any experience or feedback on their radiators? They also offer a lifetime warranty, and Griffin is only two years. Fortunately Griffin didn't make 2 weeks and I'm still in the warranty window so I should be able to get my $$ back because Summit, so far, has provided excellent customer service. I'm just fuming mad right now because I have to replace my radiator core support that I modified to work with Griffin's sub-par product.

If anyone can chime in on Entropy or other RELIABLE LS swap style radiators for my application, I am willing to research their product and consider them for a replacement to my faulty situation that currently exists.

I spoke to Summit today and they are going to send me a shipping label and give me my money back. Again, no questions asked. I will remove it and pull the front cap so that I can get the radiator support out and order parts for replacing that.

I also spoke with Entropy today and will most likely be placing an order with them next week unless I hear of another option.

I've got Entropy on mine. Zero issues. I think I had to notch part of the bottom mount but it was minimal at best.

I ordered an Entropy yesterday. I also placed the order for a new radiator support and retainers to replace the original stuff I modified. Over the weekend I also removed my front clip and disassembled everything. Now I'm just waiting on parts..... Hopefully this all goes down without a hitch.

Re: LS swap radiator problems --- Any experience with Entropy?

Recieved my radiator a few weeks ago and it's a pretty nice looking piece, but the fans come with only 1 side of a Metripack 280 inline plug. They don't provide the other half with the purchase of the radiator. Their excuse was that most people buy their fan control kit too. I know I can just cut and splice the wires, but the plugs are nice and if I need to disconnect in the future it makes it easy. I contacted Entropy and find out they will sell me the other half of the plugs for $10. I order them, but they arrive and have no wires and are not assembled. Come to find out you have to have a special tool if you want to properly crimp them and it costs in the neighborhood of $100 because of the wire size 10-12 gauge. What good does that do anybody? I contacted them and they just act like it's no big deal to rig the plug with any old crimper. Might as well use a hammer and screwdriver. They make it very obvious that customer service and satisfaction is not important to them. That's the impression I got from the email I received because I couldn't get anywhere with the guy who answers the phone for them. You spend that much money of your hard earned money on a product and they don't care about the final details and satisfying a customer. To say the least, my potential great experience with them has just turned to crap over a wire plug and making a proper connection. They aren't interested in assembling the plugs for you with a few feet of wire either. I asked that question too....

Would you have any pictures of your mounts with the Griffin radiator? I also have a "direct fit" radiator from Griffin which I had to modify the mounts to make it fit. In the offroad racing I have done and cars I've built I have seen and used a few different styles of mounting aluminium radiators and I have found the radiator needs to be in a ridged mount/craddle that is then mounted to the chassis with some type of flexible bushings so it can move around a little in its mounts. If it too ridged it will split the radiator, so I just made the factory mounts fit "looser". The truck is not up and running so we'll have to wait and see if it works. This pic shows a mock up but I think it shows the idea.

I can take some and post them tonight or over the weekend. I fabricated cradles for the top and bottom and used 1/8" rubber between them and the radiator. I also had to shave down the lip on the bottom of the radiator support so that it was clear and not touching the bottom of the radiator. 1st radiator was a snug fit and I figured that might have contributed to the radiator not being able to expand and contract and if the truck flexed it would put the radiator in a strain. Before I installed the 2nd replacement I modified my cradles and loosened things up, but that radiator also failed, so I don't attribute the failures to the mounting system I had.

How are you catching the top of your direct fit with the original retainers? Does the radiator have aluminum blades or tangs on the top that fit into the rubber in the original retainer, because both of my Griffins were flat all the way across the bottom and top.

Thank you for the info, I'm now concerned about how mine is mounted and I may change it up a bit.

I also had to trim down the lower metal cradles to not contact the radiator. I'm using new factory replacement rubber isolaters sitting over the weld bead between the tanks and the core.

My cradles were capturing the weld, but my rubber was much thinner. I'll post pics tonight.

PM sent

If you are still looking, we hand-make aluminum radiators here in the USA using domestically sourced materials, and no plastic / epoxy / glue is ever used. And, we are a site sponsor here:
