What is it Worth?

Guys, my 15 year old Son has changed his mind, went down today and put in a factory order for a 2015 Mustang! Need to list locally this dry life long West Texas "Hugger", 1972 GMC Sierra Grande LWB to help pay for the new Mustang. Please see the pics and link below and tell me what you think it is worth?

Original Paint!!!

Before:

After: Just needed to be cleaned up!!

Original 350, been cleaned up, needs some help!!!

Re: What is it Worth?

Exterior is original paint and interior is new paint? How many miles on the truck? What's original and what is added? Buckets are not original correct? I really don't think that's a big deal, probably helps, they are just bolt on anyway.
I am going to say $7,000 - $9,000.

Re: What is it Worth?

Nice truck. $7-9k sounds reasonable as shown (link above doesn't work). Is the old grill guard available? Good luck with the sale.

Re: What is it Worth?

You say the 350 needs help, so it is original and needs rebuild or is the truck a daily driver with no issues? How's the trans? If it needs a new motor that'll lower the price more than half of the values given above I'd say. Looks like a great solid truck. Did you just do paint touch ups here and there with blending or polishing? Nevermind, saw in your thread you painted it.

Bought the truck off the son of the original owner, shows 138K miles. Inside has been redone, new cluster, carpet, headliner surround....lots of new stuff and "Yes" $1500 for buckets.

Thanks for the link heads up, one in my signature works. No, old grill guard is long gone....

350 and trans are all original, runs and drives and leaks, both need to be rebuilt. Even with that said, I agree with $7-9k. This truck is very solid, dry, and very rust free. Thanks for the feedback guys, I welcome more......

Re: What is it Worth?

If that's the case I'd get the engine as spotless as possible and get the drivetrain running as best as possible with new brakes if it needs it etc to get that price point. It's steep out here for that if it's not daily driver road worthy but you are closer to the rust belt guys who pay good money for a solid truck.

Re: What is it Worth?

Not sure how the prices are out there but here I just looked at a really nice looking 2 owner 71 Sierra LWB with supposedly 42 thousand miles and they were asking 5,900 for it. If I'd had the cash I'd grabbed it. It actually spent a lot longer for sell than I expected.

Re: What is it Worth?

As you can see from past posts, I purchased this truck for my 14 year son with the intentions of him driving it when he turned 16 this August after the original engine was rebuilt or a new crate engine was dropped in, it was more about the "Father, Son" time we spent working on it together....as most of you know, plans change! With the truck being 99% original when I bought it and being 97% rust free, that these days is hard to find. Yes, it has normal wear and tear you would see on any 44 year old truck, but finding a unmolested 1972 GMC Sierra Grande with no speaker holes in the doors, and radio cutout is getting harder to find these days (even in Texas), and when you do, 8 times out of 10, rust is an issue in the all the common 67-72 areas (doors, cab corners, cab floor, core support).

I have over $4k in added and new parts in this truck, I believe when most sees more detailed pictures, or in person, the value will not be in question. I could just sell the Doors, Buckets, and Tailgate alone and get almost $4K. Keep the WIW coming.......

Re: What is it Worth?

I say pop it up on ebay & put $10g as a reserve & see if it sells.

A 1 owner original paint Sierra Grande driver with a new rebuilt auto trans, A/C etc with little to no rust popped up local to me last month for $7,500CAD so $6,000USD & it wont sell anytime soon here as it's not 100% perfect. Another great condition '70 3/4T Sierra Grande just sold for $6500 which was his asking price so $5000USD. You've obviously got a bigger & richer market down there so I'd just try ebay & see what comes of it. Most your out is $15 lol

Re: What is it Worth?

I would say clean up the engine bay a little ...

and try to locate those leak(s), if its not a large job switch out the gasket(s) on it ( should stop afterwards )

besides that solid looking truck =0)

Re: What is it Worth?

I had a 72 just like that but was 3/4 ton. I think the tired drive train will hurt your price but I think it will sell rather quickly.

Good luck!

Thanks guys for all the opinions and feedbacks, I knew the first person who knew what they were looking at, and saw it in person would see the true value. Turned into a bit of a bidding war, pocket book is very happy...
