WTB: Dana 60 Coil Spring Rear End for 67 C10
WTB a Dana 60 Coil Spring rear end for my 1967 C10. I'm in the NE Dallas area, but I can drive a couple hours for the right rear end.
Thanks in advance. Wes (Eight one eight) 434-5264

A great unit, if you can find one. You'll be wanting to look at C1500s. Chevys didn't come with these, only GMC

Re: WTB: Dana 60 Coil Spring Rear End for 67 C10
Have you looked into just having one built for you? I called around to local shops to have mine rebuilt and a couple places actually told me it would be smarter to have one custom built for me since it would be about the same price.
I called around to see what it would cost for a custom built rear end and it was a few hundred dollars more to get one vs having mine rebuilt. It seemed worth it to me to just buy a new one. Just another option to check out! |

Re: WTB: Dana 60 Coil Spring Rear End for 67 C10
Question: Mine is a dana 60 for a coil suspension. but after looking up the frame and noticing it is a 3/4 ton 8 lug with 12 inch drums.
does this still fit what you are looking for. sorry in advance if I got your hopes up for nothing |

Steven R, thanks for following up. Depending what it cost shipped, and if it is usable as is, it could work.

Re: WTB: Dana 60 Coil Spring Rear End for 67 C10
I bought my rear end assembly through Josh at American Powertrain which is Tennessee. I ordered a Dana 60 that's made for our c10's which will be a direct bolt in. They said it's as simple as unbolting the existing rear end, rolling it out of the way, and roll the new in and bolt it up!

Re: WTB: Dana 60 Coil Spring Rear End for 67 C10
Yea I think you just have to call and talk to them. I couldn't find some stuff on their site either. I told them that their site is hard to use, but I also just have my phone for a computer so that might be why too. I paid 3300 for mine. I paid extra for mine to get the gear driven posi unit instead of the clutch style.
From my experience from calling around locally to have my original rebuilt was 2500-2800. I also called strange which their Dana 60 was gonna be about 2700 I think? But both times I called they were pretty rude - they didn't believe me that I had a coil spring rear end and the wait time to talk to someone was a long time. So I ruled them out from bad customer service even though they were the cheapest. I also called moser and some other companies. Basically I ruled it down to DTS customs and American Powertrain. DTS customs seemed very knowledgeable and good customer service and could do a Dana for 3000, but I decided to go with American Powertrain since every time I've called asking about transmissions and never bought anything they were always happy to talk to me and would answer any questions I had, didn't matter how long I talked. You can call around and see who you like and want to go with and just to get pricing. I always asked for the gear driven posi which was always about 300-350 more so my prices might seem a little high. In my situation it just made sense for me to buy a new assembly. Good luck! I should be getting my new assembly in a couple weeks so I can always let you know how it turned out and if it truly is a direct bolt in! |

Re: WTB: Dana 60 Coil Spring Rear End for 67 C10
I did some looking into shipping and looks like I would have to have a freight company ship it, that won't be cheap at all. i have to weight it on the pallet I plan to ship
What out of the axle are you wanting. the more I pull out or off the less it weighs and a little cheaper we make it. it does not have any brake components left on it drums and pads are shot. do you want the gears and 8 lug axles? here a link to the axle and a few pic when it was still on the frame. it will tell you what gears are in it. might have to copy and paste the link??? http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=678104 let me know tks |
