Re: 1972 Blazer production dates

Changeover normally occurs in August (and maybe July depending on the extent of change) with regular production starting in September of 1971 calendar year.

Were you looking for something more specific than that?

Which assembly plant are you interested in?

Re: 1972 Blazer production dates

So my 1972 Blazer was built in 8/71 the original owner ended up swapping out the original carb and intake. So what date code would i need a for the carb. I am thinking a 7042208 carb with a date code of 1522 thru 2442 is this correct thinking or should it be a 7041208 with a date code of 1521 thru 2441 I'm leaning more towards the second option.

Re: 1972 Blazer production dates

Date codes varied based on final assembly location (due to shipping distance from the component supplier), production line rate, number of productive shifts, downtime (both intentional and unintentional) and popularity of the option (low runners might have a longer shelf time).

For a carburetor I'd expect a lead time of maybe a month or two prior to final vehicle assembly but it's kind of a crap shoot, in the absence of similar vehicles to compare to.

You didn't ask about the intake date code but for that I would match another cast part, like the block date code.
