1956 GMC Steering column help
Thanks for all your help previously. I am at the point of buying a tilt column and would like to know what length it should be? I am putting a keyed tilt with automatic in it. I was going to put a 30 inch one in but wondered what about the linkage for the auto trans and how it will fit. I also need the linkage , any good advice please.

Re: 1956 GMC Steering column help
I have headers and an automatic trans. It will have power steering and air conditioning. It has a TCI mustang front end under it with springs over shocks and the power rack system. I think that is all around that area.
So if I go with a 32 inch one I should be OK? Thanks |

Re: 1956 GMC Steering column help
32 seems to be standard, but will depend on the steering wheel you use (flat or dish). Use a piece of 2" pvc and mock it up.

Re: 1956 GMC Steering column help
Worked perfect for me with the truck dash, it is a little tight now with the Impala dash.
