Carpet selection
I am looking at the trim parts carpet for my 85.
Is there an advantage between loop pile and cut pile?

Re: Carpet selection
Nobody has jumped in yet, so I'll throw in what little I know.
I've been planning to replace my carpeting as well and have been doing a little research. From what I've read in various forums is that the loop pile was standard issue for GM cars from 1970 to 1976 and after that the premium trim vehicles got the cut pile. Not sure if that is true for our trucks, but interesting nonetheless. Also, it seems to be generally true that most folks consider the cut pile to be easier to clean but loop pile has better long-term wear characteristics. Once again, this is what my reading has turned up, and not my personal experience. It seems LMC only sells a cut pile version for my suburban, so that will be what I go with once I decide to spend that kind of money.

Re: Carpet selection
Trimparts is the way to go. And the cut pile was the carpeting used for our era, 81-87, maybe. I love mine, the fit was great, just a small amount of trimming.
