Most rotted '62 K20?
I would say so!
A friend of mines parents bought a house in town and this was setting back on the woods line. A '62 straight 6 k20 long bed step.... and she is whipped! The body is shot, there are NO inner or outer rockers, they used cable in place of them on one side and a big piece of flat bar on the other to hold the cab together, doors won't shut, roof is sagging, etc. The only good things left are the frame and drive train. I almost had it for parts for next to nothing but his grandfather changed his mind and wanted to keep it... oh well. Thought I'd share though. So remember west coast guys... I don't wanna hear it when you say yer truck has some rot |

Re: Most rotted '62 K20?
How much you want to bet.....
I wanted to bring it home, strip it down to nothing but the drive train and frame, slap a bench seat on it an lap the block a few times That it is. The generator is mounted directly below it but you can't see it in the picture. |

Re: Most rotted '62 K20?
I think that be the oil filter for the plow setup.... if I'm not mistaking. I checked, no power steering on this one.

Re: Most rotted '62 K20?
There's a '64 video in the works. I haven't touched the cab in about 3 weeks or so. Mainly because of getting the '61 ready for the tractor show. I finally finished up my last show of the season this past weekend so the time is coming to focus more on the Jimmy. Slowly but surely!

Re: Most rotted '62 K20?
Update here folks.....
Apparently someone changed their mind. My friend got a hold of me today and said I'm going to end up with the truck. So it looks like I'll have to get operation rot box in motion. Going to see if I can get it to the house by the end of the week. More to follow..... |

Re: Most rotted '62 K20?
Wow... I didn't think it was possible to find one worse than the '62 K10 I dragged home! My 21 year old son looked it over real good and said "well... At least you can salvage the dash out of it."
Mine is nothing but rust held together by holes. Same deal as you though: chassis, drivetrain and misc parts is what I bought it for. I've got all new sheet metal for it, except a cab. I know where there's a nice long step bed, but shipping would probably kill you. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Most rotted '62 K20?
Might have a 261 six if original, I believe all the K' s got them, especially the 20 series, but most likely the original motor is long gone. Good project for sure

Re: Most rotted '62 K20?
I'd haul it home, give it a REAL GOOD WASH before I hit the driveway.
Park it in the shop, cut it apart 6 or 7 times, give it a cool name, post a ton of pictures of the progress I made. ........ahhhhh, Crap. Im already doing that. Cool Truck. |
