Are 87' Short boxes 2WD rare?

Im looking for a Silverado but they just don't seem to be out there? I think I may have to build one if I can find a frame.

Not around here, they are not.

I saw two (red ones) at the Woodward Dream cruise this week, in addition to my own.

Only square body trucks that are rare are some of the very short lived trim levels like the wrangler.

Re: Are 87' Short boxes 2WD rare?

In Nov 86 I bought a 87 Sliverado Fleetside shortbox brand new. It was fully loaded, black with a charcoal interior. Cost $18900.00. I was 21 at the time, and drove like a 21 year old.... I believe most of the shortbox pickups in my area were purchased by young guys.... and wrecked. They bounce around a bit more than a long box, and are easier to loose control on "wash board" gravel roads. I know of at least six shortboxes that were rolled/destroyed in the mid/late 80's in my little area. Considering our small population, it's a lot of shortboxes. I also believe a lot more long boxes were sold. There still are a few around..... Don't see a lot of 87's..... but 81 - 86's show up on Kijiji fairly frequently.

Ha, your story sounds a lot like a couple of my buddies trucks....let the cute girl drive their truck & lost control on gravel road & rolled. Lucky nobody hurt too bad. I can remember a few 87 Silverados in the area, don't see many anymore though.

I also live in Alberta, and I saw a mint 85 GMC Sierra Classic shortbox C15 today. First shortbox I've seen outside of a car show in at least two years.
