PS issues + general acc belt problem
So this isn't really a pressing issue because the truck still drives fine, but it's annoying and will get old fast. Here's what I got...
1970 c10 LWB 355 w/10.3:1 comp 4 bolt RHS 170 heads 2.02/1.60 Edelbrock perf rpm Holley 750 DP 1" phenolic spacer Comp cam .495" lift 236@.050" on a 106 LSA Long tubes 3" exhaust Flowmaster 10's TH400 3000 10" stall 12 bolt 3.73 mini spool Ever since I put the 10" converter and the new cam with a tight LSA, this thing revs in the blink of an eye. We're talkin idle to 6k in an instant, which is awesome except that my belts can't keep up with the pulleys, so when I rev it she squeals a little real fast, and my power steering pump (stock old pump) won't stop chirping when I turn even at low rpms. Are there high performance ps pumps that will fix this? And what to do about the belts? <---not as pressing of an issue it's barely a squeak when I rev it |

Re: PS issues + general acc belt problem
serpentine set up is the way to go , there is plenty of options for your SB ,lot of guys like the March set ups ,but there are lots of choicese you can even go to the junkyard and pull a GM serpentine set up from somthing from the late 80s tio mid 90s just make sure you rake everything all brackets pumps pullys ect...

Re: PS issues + general acc belt problem
Are you sure you've bled all of the air out of the PS pump? This usually requires lifting the car off, running it, cycling it back and forth a number of times, waiting, doing it again... it can take some time.

So is it all you are doing is Priming the pump **Off of the car/truck** too allow air that might be trapped to escape ?

Re: PS issues + general acc belt problem
I didn't try that. Ill give this a try tomorrow and report back, hopefully this works. I'd rather not put a serpentine system on it that's off another truck, sounds like more headaches than I've already got. And a new serpentine from March or some other manufacturer isn't in the budget right now.

Re: PS issues + general acc belt problem
Bleed the p/s system and make sure your pulleys are aligned and the belts are set to proper tension. You should have no more than 1/2 inch of deflection. Also check to make sure your pulleys are not worn out, this will cause belt slippage also.
