6-lug Plain steel wheels??

Im of the oldschool approach.

That said, I'm trying to find out where else to look to find just plain 6lug steel wheels.

Are the Jeep wagoneers the same 6lug as gm trucks?

What about up to mid 70's 4x4 gm trucks? Anything different besides bigger hub opening?

Id love to find a pair of 15x8 just plain-jane steel wheels for the back of my 65.

I guess when scrap went high, they all got scrapped. I use to be able to trip over them everywhere, now cant find any.

I find various forms of ralleys but I just want plain steel wheels.

Anyone know what year the 4x4s went up to with that style?
Are the jeep 6lug the same?

Re: 6-lug Plain steel wheels??

i don't know about the jeep wheels, but some of the 73-87 style 4x4's used a standard rim that would accept a regular hubcap that were 15x8's.but i would think these would be even harder to find than the 60-66 steel rims.i did not know the 60-66 rims were getting that hard to find.i guess everyone throws them away when they put on aftermarket wheels.check with lilred he might have some.good luck

Yes, the Jeep 6 lug pattern fits too. I have a set of factory slot mags off of a mid 70s Wagoneer.

Re: 6-lug Plain steel wheels??

The stock looking 15 x8 steel wheels came on 71 up blazer 4x4s so they may be rare. The 71 to 87/90 4x4 wheels fit the older trucks and are built for disc brakes, there used to be wheel repair shops that would re-center wheels. If you opt for reverse wheels the may not fit disc brakes.

also remember that the 6 lug stock rims are the same from 1961-1970,they have the bumps around center to hold a hubcap.the 1960 rims have clips that hold the hubcap on them.

Re: 6-lug Plain steel wheels??

Though this is a shameless plug for my NE Georgia Swap Meet, I've picked up a set of 15x6 3-nub steelies at the swap meet, a set of 15x8 steelies there, sold another set of 15x8s, and last month I picked up a pair of 15x6 4-nub steelies there.
This is all within the last year.
And I've passed on at least two other sets of steelies: a set of 3 15x8 and a lone 15x8 at another vendor's trailer the same day, and a set of 15x6 because I just don't need three (and a half) sets of each!

The 6-lug 5-slots on the Suburban in my avatar also came from the swap meet a few years ago: originally wore four 15x7, then someone sold me a set of 15x8, so I've got the x7 up front and x8 out back, and their mates in my attic. (holy crap I have a lot of wheels...how the hell does stuff like that happen?!)

Re: 6-lug Plain steel wheels??

As for steelies: regarding the 3 60-66 C10 wheels you mentioned you bought - keep in mind that they do not clear stock (or larger) disk brake calipers if you do a disk conversion (nor do 67-70 C/K10 wheels). Only 71 and newer K5/10 wheels fit the 6 lug pattern AND clear disk brakes. This applies to both steelies and rallies. Yes, the 71+ K5/10 wheels are getting rare. While you can run the newer wheels up front and oldies out back and it will look the same - keep in mind you'd also want a 71 or newer spare to cover all 4 corners...

Kevin - good gouge on the jeep wheels, THANKS, I didn't know that! Got a picture of them?
