Re: Craigslist '54 Suburban project - Oregon
I don't see where the money is all that out of line for a Suburban. Maybe a little high, if it were a panel truck, I would say it's crazy money.
As long as the sheet metal is decent and not bondo filled and primered. It looks like the seats are there, which is a huge plus. All car guys are open for negotiation. Shoot high meet in the middle. |

Also note Florence is right on the Pacific Ocean, everything over there has surface rust, pitted chrome, etc. They were in bad shape in the 60's when I lived in Eugene, can't imagine what it is like now. Salty fog and rain seeps into every nook and cranny. Living in the Valley you could always tell a car that had been on the coast for any length of time. Definately one you need to inspect in person.

Re: Craigslist '54 Suburban project - Oregon
Well they do have some good weed down there.
I'd say the guy is on a fishing expedition looking for a sucker who just has to have one of those cool old burbs and money is no object. I'm with Orrie in that it possibly is full of rust if it has been in that area very long. Even more rust if it got driven on the beach. A guy or gal who is interested in it might save the link and wait it out as it no doubt will get cheaper in a month or so.

Thought I would throw the picture up for when the listing ends.

I don't know much about Suburbans, except that a complete set of seats is worth about a million dollars.

Re: Craigslist '54 Suburban project - Oregon
The plate on the running board says "Harrah's Club, Reno and Lake Tahoe" so it might have spent most of it's life a long way from the coast. If it's as solid as it looks, with minimal rust, I think $10K is a decent offering price to start haggling from.

Re: Craigslist '54 Suburban project - Oregon
.
if only there was a way you could make it stupid fast. Handle like it on rails and super reliable for under 5 grand...and through a few sheet of plywood maybe few sax of cement in the back

Re: Craigslist '54 Suburban project - Oregon
Softpatch if you want it to handle like on rails you could use that plywood to make you a big ol wing and those bags of cement as weight for traction..haha..wings and weight make em stupid fast..

Re: Craigslist '54 Suburban project - Oregon
I think the price is a few thousand out of line. But it does have all the seats. And being a 54 makes it worth more as well. I would like to see the underside.
