Re: HO52 no spin center section

Hey Tom, I noticed the truck is a med bronze. Are you parting out the truck or just selling the rear end? If you are parting out, do you have any good doors fenders tailgate etc, we are always looking for good original paint sheet metal. Feel free to call 806-252-4174.
Always appreciate you Paul

Re: HO52 no spin center section

If its a 5.14 diff then I will take it, as long as I'm not stepping on any toe's or jumping the line. I have a 4.10 carrier I could trade if you need better street gears.
I need the lower 5.14 gears for a offroader I'm building.
Jason.

Re: HO52 no spin center section

I am going to guess the gears are either 4.10 or 4.57

w314speed I'll check on that aux battery wiring & etc,

Duncan and son, I am parting the truck, the cab & doors are already sold & the fenders are not straight.
I do have a 72 in a dark green that has a pair of nice fenders & hood in original paint

b&a72 You have 1st shot at the rear diff, know that it will be at least a 4.10 ratio.

Jason M, I'll let you know if the gears are 5.13

Thanks,
Tom

Re: HO52 no spin center section

THe No Spink will be 4:10, 4:56 or 5:13 only, and most likely if it isn't listed on the SPID, it got the 4:56. You can pull the rear cover off and look at the numbers on it. I believe that if the ring has 7 36, that it's 5:13.

Here is a picture of the one I sold recently. You can see the GM 7 36 mark in the center group:

Re: HO52 no spin center section

Yep 5.14's is 7-36, 4.56's are 7-32 and 4.10's are stamped 41-10. The 4.10's dont use the 7XX code.
And the HO72's have the numbers stamped on the teeth side of the gear since the load bolt will rub them away and the HO52's have them flat surrface on the oppeset side of the ring.

Re: HO52 no spin center section

I am interested. How is the slack in the pinion shaft? Would you sell just the gear set? I don't need the whole axle housing. I am wanting to swap out my 5:14 for the 4:10 so I can get better road speed out of my old 51 Model GMC. That is an HO52 and should bolt right into my axle.

Re: HO52 no spin center section

WPS, selling the center section as a complete unit for $350, I'm not selling the gears seperate. It all seems to be in good shape, this was in a 120,000 mile 2 owner truck, that wasn't beat to death. It had good fluid & no evidence of water or condensation under the cover.
Thanks,
Tom

Question Re: HO52 no spin center section

I'm new to the site and have a 1959 GMC 250 series cab chassis and i'm looking to swap the 5.14 (open) gears for 4.10 gears has an HO 72 (pretty sure dual wheel axle in it). I'm in the military the truck is not with me yet needs full resto. Looking everywhere for front fenders. Brothers has most parts. Any suggestions? Thanks Active duty military member (Heavy equip operator)

Re: HO52 no spin center section

I can't help you there? I am working on a 51 model AD GMC and all the parts do differ from a 59. Another good resouce is OldGMCTrucks.com. They have some used parts from time to time. Also there is a section there that lists craiglist items for GMC from all over the country. I did get the 4:10 parts and have not put them in the truck yet. In fact I am tacking it down to the shop this afternoon. I was going to put it in myself, but have been down in the back for almost 6 months. I'm feeling a lot better, but don't want to screw it up again. So I am going to pay to have it done. It's a little too heavy for me to be tugging around at my age anyway.
Good luck with your search and thanks for serving our country. I did my time in the CB's during Nam. Everything after that has been a bonus.
