Chrome or stainless?
Can anyone help me out on determining if these are chrome or stainless?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/162229264709 The seller isn't quite sure & the only test I could think of is to see if a magnet sticks - I have 2 stainless caps for the rear and a magnet is slightly drawn to them. The seller has told me that a magnet is also slightly drawn to these. |

Re: Chrome or stainless?
They're most likely stainless. A magnet is not a real good test for stainless because some like 400 series will attract a magnet. Using a rare earth magnet will usually determine if it's 304 or 316 but there's exceptions to this. 304 stainless when bent or formed will attract a magnet, which is probably why a magnet sticks to your caps.

Re: Chrome or stainless?
They appear stainless to me FWIW. Regardless, I'd buy them if you need a set. Asking price is reasonable. If not gone by this afternoon I might grab them

Re: Chrome or stainless?
My thought behind that test is the magnet might be drawn to the stainless but shouldn't be drawn to the brass unless it's attracted to the plating.
