Looking for a post about sealed rocker boxes?

Im currently building my blazer and fixing some rust on the rocker boxes. I read a post once about a guy who completely sealed his rocker boxes so no water or mud could get it. Is there anything wrong with doing that? My stock boxes had over 2 inches of mud in them.

I think it would be better to modify them so the water/debris runs out of them easier and then you can spray them out and coat the inside/outside of the boxes with some heavy duty paint/POR.

But why not just seal them up completely??? No need to wash em out if they dont ever get dirty... Maybe a drip hole or something if that?

I think completely sealed would be much better!
I don't know if you could just seam seal the sheetmetal joints of the rocker boxes or if they would need to be welded.
Either way I would want all the body panels aligned with doors that shut good.

You will never be able to seal them up completely, because water will find it's way in there. Even if only a bit gets in there, the lack of ventilation will expedite the corrosion. Like someone already mentioned, I would make the drain holes larger to help remove any debris a lot easier. IMHO.

I would leave a drain hole on the bottom. A small hole.

But there are gaps and holes on these that just shoot mud and dirty and debri in there. I want to seal up the big gaps. Leave a drain hole.

I suck at searching, because i just read a thread where a guy did this and of course i cant find it.
