modifing DJM control arm
Has anyone modified a DJM 3" drop lower control arm for S10, to be used for air bags? i would think it could be done by just cutting out the spring bracket then welding in a piece of 1/4" plate.

or just buy the right one, inless you are already the proud owner and have changed your mind on the build.
seems like you are correct, cut out and reweld the right one in. I would suggest to build some sort of jig to keep things correct, geometry wise, while cutting etc. just so it fits the whole when you are done welding. would hate to see you do all that work |

doesnt an s10 lower cup bolt right to it? It should, looks like the holes are there.
I would be more worried about how to attach shocks to the arm, need a pin and a mount

i want to eliminate the 3" drop bracket. i have them already, dont want to buy new ones if i dont have to.

Just weld a piece of angle iron across it before you cut out the pocket and weld in a piece of 3/16'' plate. No big deal.

It doesn't look like the they list any control arms for Air bags for anything so looking at what the did on the air bag control arms is out.
Looking at some photos of ones like yours on their site I think the thing to do is to cut the welds off the rings as it looks like there are three or four welds on each and they aren't welded solid and weld your plate what's left as you planned to do in the beginning.

what I was saying is that these s10 cups will bolt right to the arm, the two bolts go through the shock mount holes in your arms.
you will need upper cups to bag it anyway, this way you dont modify the arms, and if you decide to go back to springs you can. plated arms usually eliminate the lower cup and the bottom of the bag bolts straight to the plate, but you must spend some time trimming the upper cup to length to make certain the bag squishes fully when aired out, without holding the truck off the ground. Its a step a lot of guys skip, but very important to ride quality. with an upper and lower cup installed, you can trim either.
