Re: GMC vs Chevy
Not sure, but I don't think it would be that low.

Re: GMC vs Chevy
I have this hunch that the percentage would be different in the US than it is in Canada.
I see lots of GMCs up here, and in fact, I've had two of the 67 - 72 trucks, both GMCs. Hving said that, I like the front grill on the Chevies much better.

Re: GMC vs Chevy
No, the GMC production numbers were lost in a fire. The production has been said to have been approximately 1/4 to 1/5 that of Chevrolet, but that doesn't mean a higher % of them did, or didn't, make it to CA for sale than Chevrolet.
Although, it does "appear" that far less than the estimated 20-25% built when compared to chevrolet's production #'s have survived when compared to the number of Chevrolet trucks still around.

Re: GMC vs Chevy
Looks like we will never know the answer, as with the records destroyed, and probably no foolproof way to see how many of each are left, it's just going to be educated guesswork.
However, we should just call ourselves lucky to own one of these, no matter how many eyes it has, as they are neat old trucks, and now becoming quite collectible.

Re: GMC vs Chevy
We have ALL the production numbers broken down for the C10s, but not for the GMC's. The best I've ever found is them all lumped together:

Re: GMC vs Chevy
SSTim is likely a good source for this info.

Re: GMC vs Chevy
SSTIm won't know because the records were burned, as mentioned above. There are no records for him to use his advanced computer research skills on. What I know is what a worker from the Baltimore plant, at this time, told me. He said every 5th one was GMC, so 20%. I think it could have varied plant to plant and also by fleet orders.
