i had an early 80's xj6 with a sbc in the early 90's.
it was a suberbly solid ride, but I will second the opinion that changing the rotors on that rear end is a pita that tops all pita's.
still--- the swap has merit if you get a well cared for donor right!

None of these links are for '73-'87 GM trucks, but lots of good info that could be used for any car with a similar track width; there is also some stuff about narrowing the IFS in the first thread; could possibly apply to widening. The Jag has a track width of 59.5; the GM trucks from '71-'87 is 65.8, 64.5 for Blazers. Before the disk brakes came out in '71, they were 3/4" narrower on each side. This decreased track width would be handy for tucking wide wheels inside the fenders.

There are also details in the links above for adapting the steering column, and clearance issues with the rear mounted rack. I plan to do more research.

ive thought about this for a looooong time. theres been way too many chances to buy some old jag non-running for less than $600. most of the time more like $400, but thought it would be too much of a pain to set-up. guess i should have looked into it more. not to mention my gf isnt gonna be too happy if i start running with this idea again. ill be spending more time than i am now workin on the truck if i do

What kind of power are those rated to? I know the weak link in Corvettes is the IRS, so many U-joints and places for trouble to start.
That Jag rearend sure looks cool, though.

Im really curious about how the steering links up and if there is any clearance issues. I've got an extra 51 truck chassis that I think I'm going to do this swap on just for fun.

Hey All, I am in the process of pulling both front and rear from one now. I will be using it on my 65 panel....FYI Boyd Cottington and many other hot rodders have used these for years ( even in high horse applications ) with great success... Guess I'll see cause I'm doing it, I expect it to handle superb and ride well based on research, it looks to be pretty simple so far....PEACE

Might be able to find out for sure, with a comparison to a low mileage, original truck. Find someone that has one, and compare the ride quality and handling of it against the Jaguar truck.

I have a jag ifs waiting to go in my 59. If you need ideas there is a jag ifs/irs group on the HAMB, but you have to be a member to view it.

A project a bit down the list, but always looking to see how it worked out for others.
