Custom Auto Sound Radios
I have 2 of these 1 I have in my 68 camaro with the Camaro Logo
and another I had for a corvette. When I sold the corvette I pulled the radio out. I plan on putting it in my Jimmy I also have the CD Changer in The camaro. It works great no problems. The one I have is the ones they refer to as the Kenwood 3006 which this is just the oder model. Good Luck Charlie http://customautosound.com/prodList.php?FamID=10

I have one and I love it! And no dash hacking needed, the best part!

i have one i got about 4-5years ago an am/fm/cassette the sound is real good but i did have a problem when i first got it but they fixed it when i sent it in
the model# was USA1 when i bought it it was their top of the line the only complaints i have is the push buttons are so darn small and there's so many of them it's real difficult to change stations and or features while driving and the display isn't real bright so i can't see it real good but i'm more than happy with the noise that it puts out

Cheesy sound
I have the USA6 with dual voice coil dash speaker and the kick panel speakers, 6 disc changer under the seat. Worst sounding stereo I've ever had in a vehicle.

Me, I have one in one of my trucks and it's okay (can't hear it over the BB anyway )and I didn't hack the dash with false expectations of accoustic nirvana. The next truck will have a stock AM radio or a radio delete, because I always have the 2000 Silverado if I need music.

All true
CPNE is correct (as usual). I thought I had taken most of that in to consideration. A lot of insulation was installed before the stereo was. I am of the same opinion, don't waste money on a high end stereo in one of these trucks. There are more things I could have done - relocation of the gas tank to allow installation of speaker boxes (but they would be muffled by the seat), amps and crossovers, etc., but I wanted a semi-stock appearance. You can't have it all.

A-Men, CPNE has it right! I have that radio in my 71 swb (402 BB) and the only time you can here the radio is if your cruising around town. And if you decide to "get on it" at all then forget even trying to hear the radio! LOL But then again my truck is loud enough in the cab while driving it that it probably wouldn't hurt to were ear plugs! lol

I would think the choice of speakers had more to do with it than the radio itself...I have the same setup with 6 x 9's in the doors and it sounds fine.....garbage can acoustics and all

Tom, I didn't want to cut the doors. I've seen some nice consoles with speakers in them that provide a good sound, but wanted to keep a bench seat.

I had wanted one for my 68 mustang, but everyone on the Mustang boards said that they had problems where they had to get sent back. I don't know now
On my truck it had been cut so I have a nice kenwood din that changes colors which I picked up brand new off e-bay, and it's excellent plus I spent less than one of those CAS units. I can't see myself paying 2to3 hundred bucks for a less than average stereo being an electronics freak and all. |

I have a good used one for sale, $100.00 plus the ride. P/M if interested and I'll get the specifics for you.
Dan.

I'm with Tom, I think the speakers are the key. I have encased Pioneer speakers under the seat that point forward, and it can blow you out of the truck, and sounds good too. I've had these speakers for years, not sure if they still offer them or not though. I would think that with the right components, a guy could make some that would sound good.
