Radiator help
Hi I have a 1950 chevy truck with a crate 500HP Ls3 and it will also have a/c on it. Is there anyone out there that could help me with what radiator condenser combo I need. And if I need a shroud and fan or what? Also was wondering about wiring the truck with a painless harness? I am open to suggestions thanks!

Re: Radiator help
I used a Walker radiator made for LS engines in a AD truck. It did come with a condenser but we couldn't use it.
I would not go with the cheapest cost and I would use the condenser from what ever AC kit you get that's sized for the truck. Fan should be 16" or bigger. preferably a 18" Thunderbird/Cougar two speed that the PCM can control. Use a shroud. we set the radiator on the front side of the core support for added room. Its an easy task and looks not much different than the original setup. As a side note Walker is a pricey radiator but well worth the cost. |

Re: Radiator help
this is just a thought, I havent tried this yet, but I was looking for a narrower radiator and condenser for using in my s10 swapped ADs and tripped across a radiator and condenser from a chevrolet colorado. They are narrow enough (from my research anyway) for the stock radiator core support and the colorado came with a 5.3 for a couple years. They are top/bottom tanks with center fill, and have integral trans cooler. I didnt use it because the dryer mounts on the condenser and uses different lines, it was more changing than I wanted to try at the time, but I am doing a 41 now and am thinking about it again.

Re: Radiator help
Thanks guys! I was looking at the walker radiators but man are they expensive. The radiator swap sounds cool but I don't think I want to try that as I'm building a pretty nice show truck and I'd rather just buy one that fits. Another question I have is what do y'all do with the steam vent like I said it's a showtruck so I'd rather it not be in sight but I'm not sure if that's possible. Thanks again any comments or help is appreciated.

Re: Radiator help
I picked up one of these for my 48 the other day. I'm on the buy a part as I go plan.
I don't know if it is good for that many horsepower but it should work great with my 292 six and is just about the same thickness as the two 51 1-1/2 ton radiators I have in the shed are. I had a 1-1/2 -2 ton core in my radiator for years with a 350 and it cooled great until old age took it's tole https://www.speedcooling.com/1948-19...-Radiator.html I was billed by this company and they shipped me the radiator http://www.entropyrad.com/index.php They don' show that radiator in their website though. at least not where I could find it. To be honest If I had the $$$$$$ to spend I would have ordered a Walker but that is way beyond my budget.
