Tail Light Mounting, Chrome conduit

I bought new tail lights and the chrome conduit for my 2nd gen 55. The connector on the back of the tail light housing comes straight out the back, and the chrome conduit simply will not bent enough to stay off of the fenders.
I'm sure pleny of others have had this problem, so surely there is a simple solution. I saw a couple routed through the fender, but I don't to drill the fenders for that. I tried using the boot from the wiring kit which is only about 45 degrees - helped a little but not near enough?
Am I missing something here? I suppose I could raise the lights up in the stake pocket or space them forward. Any suggestions for a true 90 boot or other option?

If I slip the chrome conduit directly over the connector, I have to bend it so sharply it breaks.

Just spitballing here (because I am going to have the same problem soon!)

How about looking for a chrome 90* elbow that will replace these boots in the plumbing department of your local big box store? I would think exposed faucet plumbing would need a 90* sometimes.

I think most people route it horizontally and either go under the bed side or drill a hole and route it through the hole. Is that flexible metal cover specifically for that?

Spark plug wire boot? 90 degree vacuum fitting? PVC or ABS pipe fitting?

Drill hole in bottom of light and route wires vertically, use plug in hole in rear of light?

Just a thought, do you have enough conduit to go over the top and come down to your light?? seems that there's more room topside??

I'd follow Dan's suggestion first and head to the local big box hardware or the local has everything plumbing store with the conduit and maybe even the taillight in hand.

Half of hunting for something is knowing what you are asking for when you go hunting.
you may be drilling and tapping and putting in set screws to make it work.

Could you swap the mounting brackets from left side to right?..that would flip them over and put the hole on the top side of the bracket and might give you a little more room..

On my truck I just put heat shrink tubing over the plugs and wiring tube that came with the tail lights. My mounting brackets are straight, so I look to have more room between tail lights and fender also.

To use what you've got ,best option would be to mount them higher, another option would be to use some braided S.S. wire loom with some heat shrink on the ends.

I cant remember who it was , but one of the guys used a piece of SS tubing and bent it to use as conduit.

A 90* boot to look at to see if it would fit comes to mind ...A spark plug boot for a lawn mower might work ...

Heat shrink would look good too. Might just want to run it to keep it tight to the bracket for a cleaner look.But nothing wrong with the way Capnduane ran his ,but if yours will be lower the wires will be less noticeable .

Yes I originally purchased some of the flexible conduit kind like you did and was unhappy with them. I did go through some SS tubing until I figured out a simple clean way to run it...

Thought i had more, but i guess not. I saw one that was hardlined with polished stainless tube like this rubber one. Looked very clean.
